After three days of questioning, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday arrested Rhea Chakraborty in connection with the drug probe in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Rhea Chakraborty appeared before the NCB on Tuesday for questioning in the drugs case.
NCB has already arrested Rhea’s brother Showik and other drug peddlers connected to the case. Nine people have been arrested by NCB in the case. Seven of them are directly related to the investigation. The remaining two have arrested during the course of investigation under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Rhea Chakraborty is being investigated by three central agencies in the case. The agencies include the CBI, Enforcement Directorate and NCB. Sushant Singh Rajput’s family has alleged that she exploited the actor for money and mentally harassed him. They also claimed that she had a role in his death.
Rhea made to confront brother
Sources say she admitted to organising drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput. She also admitted using them at times, during hours of questioning by the agency.
The 28-year-old actor, named as an accused in the CBI investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death on June 14, had denied using drugs in her interviews.
According to sources, she broke down when confronted with her brother Showik Chakraborty, who was arrested last week.
The Narcotics Control Bureau claims to have evidence linking Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda to the purchase of marijuana. Miranda was Sushant’s house manager.
FIR registered against Sushant’s sisters
Following Rhea Chakraborty’s accusations, an FIR has been registered against Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters and others for prescribing him medicines banned under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters have been charged with abetment to suicide and criminal conspiracy in the FIR lodged by Mumbai police.
The case has been registered at Bandra police station. The accused have been charged under sections 420, 464, 465, 466, 468, 474, 306, 120(B) and 34 of IPC and sections 8(c), 21, 22(A) and 29 of NDPS Act.
As per the Supreme Court order, the case has been transferred to CBI for further investigation.
What did Rhea claim?
Rhea Chakraborty had claimed that Sushant’s sisters—Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh—had prescribed drugs to the actor without consultation.
Rhea in her complaint claimed these persons hatched a conspiracy. Additionally, she claimed that they obtained a false prescription on the letterhead of a government hospital for banned medicines. She also claimed that they administered the medicines to the actor without supervising doses and quantity.
