A residential society in Bopal has been declared as a new containment zone by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Bopal is part of the south-west zone in the city. The residential society – Orchid Paradise- is part of Safal Parisar-2 in South Bopal with 383 houses and 1200 residents. This is the 37th containment zone in the city.
Earlier, the Gujarat High Court had also mentioned the situation of COVID-19 in Bopal in one of its orders pointing out how the efforts of the AMC had led to decrease in cases in eastern areas but unfortunately it was on the rise in other areas including Bopal.
Bopal, which was a part of a municipality, was brought under AMC limits on June 18 following a notification of the state government. The south west zone where Bopal falls has so far recorded 414 COVID-19 cases while the west zone has 592 cases. The latter accounts for the highest number of cases in the city.
Ahmedabad on Friday recorde 219 new cases of which 205 were reported from within the AMC limits. All the eight deaths recorded in the district for the day were also from within the municipal corporation limits. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the district has crossed the 20,000 mark with the city accounting for most of the cases
