- Nationwide coverage by Dec 2023, says Mukesh Ambani
Mumbai: Reliance will launch its Jio 5G services by November this year, group chairman Mukesh Ambani announced at the 45th annual general meeting.
“Today, I want to announce the next leap forward that Jio is creating in digital connectivity, especially in fixed broadband. That is JIO 5G. With 5G, we will connect 100 million homes with unparalleled digital experiences and Smart Home solutions,” Ambani said.
Jio 5G will be launched across multiple key cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata by Diwali this year. By December 2023, it will be available in every town, taluka and tehsil of India, he added.
Reliance Jio chairman Akash Ambani added that Jio would deploy the latest version of 5G called ‘Standalone 5G’. The company would invest Rs 2 lakh crore to build a pan-India true 5G network, he added.
Anant Ambani to head Reliance New Energy
During the AGM, Mukesh Ambani also said that his youngest son, Anant Ambani, had joined the New Energy business of the group, taking forward the succession plan. Earlier this year, Akash Ambani was named the chairman of Jio. Isha Ambani will be in charge of Reliance Retail.
