RCB’s AB de Villiers snatches match from RR


Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their match in the ongoing IPL 2020.

Rajasthan Royal’s skipper Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bat. Some cracking shots by Robin Uthappa and later by Steve Smith helped Rajasthan Royals to reach 177 runs at the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.

RCB, while batting second, had to score 178 runs in 120 balls to win the game. The Bangalore team, however, lost Aaron Finch early on, after which Virat Kohli came to bat. Virat Kohli along with RCB’s star performed in IPL 2020 Devdutt Padikkal again started the chase against Rajasthan Royals. However, Devdutt Padikkal gave an easy catch to Ben Stokes after scoring 35 runs in 37 balls.

RCB snatches match from RR

Following Padikkal’s dismissal in the 13th over at the score of 102, AB de Villiers came to bat. However, soon after that Virat Kohli also lost his wicket after scoring 43 runs in 32 balls. Then, Gurkeerat Singh Mann came to bat.

While Rajasthan Royals was thinking of getting back in the game after getting the crucial breakthroughs, AB de Villiers snatched the game from RR with his unbeaten 55 runs in just 22 balls. AB de Villiers hit six sixes and one boundary to achieve victory for his team with two balls to spare.

IPL points table

Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challenger Bangalore are the top three teams with each having 12 points on board. However, the difference lies in the net run rate. While Mumbai Indians have a net run rate of 1.35, Delhi Capitals have a net run rate of 0.99. RCB, after winning the game against Rajasthan Royals have a net run rate of minus 0.096.

KKR is at the fourth spot with four wins and an equal number of losses, followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Kings XI Punjab continues to remain at the bottom of the points table.
