Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said that his government will ensure that justice is done in the rape of a 12-year-old. He also promised that the victim will get the best care.
He also said that the incident has shaken him to the core and such predators roaming free cannot be tolerated.
Kejriwal also promised that the toughest punishment will be meted out to those involved.
He said the hunt is on for the man/men who abused the child.
“The child is in a serious state, unconscious. Surgery has been done. She will be under observation for 24 to 48 hours,” Kejriwal said after a visit to AIIMS.
What is the rape case?
A 12-year-old girl from Delhi’s Paschim Vihar was admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital on Tuesday evening after she was found bleeding from her private parts.
She was also hit in the head and back with a sharp weapon. She was later shifted to the Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Reports said the girl was sexually assaulted and attacked with a sharp object when she was alone at home.
Neighbours found the girl in a bloody state and informed her parents.
The parents were out working and the girl was alone at home.
The assailants escaped after raping the child.
The police are questioning residents in the area and scanning security footage.
