Major twist in Ramesh Jarkiholi sex scandal case, complaint withdrawn

In a major twist in the Ramesh Jarkiholi sex scandal case for which the Karnataka minister had to resign from his position, social activist Dinesh Kalahalli has decided to withdraw his complaint against Jarkiholi who is facing sexual harassment charges. Kalahalli sent a letter to Cubbon Park police station to formally withdraw the complaint.

The social activist’s lawyer Kumar Patil said that Kalahalli will not bow to any political pressure. Patil said, “Kalahalli’s aim was to provide the girl justice, but on social media, her image is being spoilt. To stop this from happening further, he has decided to withdraw the case.”

Ramesh Jarkiholi’s brother demands CBI probe

Meanwhile, right after Kalahalli withdrew his complaint against the former minister, the latter’s brother and JP MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi demanded a CBI probe on the issue. He alleged that two people were behind the conspiracy to defame his brother and force him to step down as minister.

“If authorities catch the two, you will find the four below them and others involved,” he said. The plan was also to embarrass the BJP ahead of elections in five states, he said, contending that the videos were fake. “I believe that the visuals in the CD are fake. It should be tested to verify its authenticity,” he said.

“Ten ministers of the government and 25 MLAs who met me have urged me to press for a CBI enquiry. I will meet him in the evening, urging him to come out and speak to the media. He should file a complaint against the incident. If he does not, I will file a complaint on his behalf,” Balachandra said.

What Ramesh Jarkiholi had said

After landing in a controversy over an alleged sex tape aired by local news channels, Karnataka water resources minister Ramesh Jarkiholi on March 3 resigned on “moral grounds”.  Notably, the minister had to resign after instruction from the BJP high command.

The minister had refuted the allegations and termed the video as “fake”. In his resignation letter to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Jarkiholi had said, “Allegations against me are far from the truth. Clear investigation is needed. I will come out innocent and I am confident about it. I am resigning on moral grounds and I request you to accept this.”
