- The yoga guru has also sought transfer of FIRs against him to Delhi
New Delhi: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has submitted a petition in the Supreme Court seeking stay on proceedings in cases filed against his comments on allopathy. He has also sought for the FIRs filed by the Patna and Raipur wings of Indian Medical Association (IMA) to be transferred to Delhi.
These cases pertain to his criticism of allopathic doctors over treatment of Covid-19 patients.
Ramdev had raked up controversy earlier by calling allopathy a “stupid” and “bankrupt” science, also claiming that 10,000 doctors had died despite taking both doses of the vaccine. He had said that lakhs had died because of allopathic treatment for Covid.
He had claimed that he did not feel the need to get vaccinated because of his years of yoga practice and consumption of ayurvedic medicines.
The Indian Medical Association had filed a police complaint against him for “dishonest and wrongful representations”. It had sought an apology from him and later sued him for defamation.
Ramdev withdrew his comments days later.
Earlier this month, he agreed to get vaccinated and called doctors “God’s envoys on Earth”.
