Three people were injured after a clash between two communities during a rally in Gandhidham, Kutch to collect funds for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. A body of a man was also found 200 meters away from the site of violence.
The violence was reported on Sunday evening in Kidana village.
Cops are trying to probe if the man, who was killed by a sharp weapon, died in the clash or it is a separate incident.
Media reports said two groups clashed and threw stones at each other in the village on Sunday evening when a procession was taken out for the collection of funds for the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Some vehicles were also set afire by rioters, he said.
The police lobbed teargas shells to bring the situation under control and three people were injured in the incident. Police have lodged a case of murder against unidentified men.
The man who was killed originally belonged to Jharkhand and was returning from work in an auto-rickshaw when a group of men attacked the vehicle. Other passengers escaped but the man got stabbed.
Three separate FIRs have been registered in the case including that of a murder and 40 people have been rounded up for questioning. Police said as of now there is peace in the village and security has been tightened.
