New Delhi: Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu was seen getting emotional as he spoke about the ruckus in the House on Tuesday. He was referring to Opposition MPs climbing on the table and throwing files around while protesting.
All sacredness of this House was destroyed yesterday when some members sat on the tables and some climbed on the tables, Venkaiah Naidu said on Wednesday.
The MPs had sat on the reporters’ table in front of the chair for nearly two hours before the House was eventually adjourned for the day at 4 pm. AAP MP Sanjay Singh was the first one to climb the table and wave a black flag at the chair. The House was adjourned for 15 minutes. An MP was seen throwing a file at the Chair.
With others joining in, and no sign of the Opposition relenting, vice-chairperson Bhubaneswar Kalita had adjourned the House for the day.
On Wednesday, while condemning this incident, Venkaiah Naidu broke down as he spoke about the behaviour of Opposition MPs.
Since the start of the monsoon session of the Parliament, neither of the Houses has had a disruption-free day even as the Opposition MPs continue to protest over issues like Pegasus snooping row, farm laws, Covid etc.
