Rajkot Collector Remya Mohan has tested positive for COVID-19 and is under home quarantine at her residence. She is the third female IAS officer in the state to test positive for the disease.
Earlier Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) municipal commissioner Dr Ratankanvar H. Gadhvicharan and Tourism Secretary Mamta Verma had tested positive for the disease.
IPS officer Vidhi Chaudhary, DCP with Surat city has also tested positive for COVID-19. Rajkot Collector Reya Mohan is the latest to join the list of high profile people from the city falling prey to COVID-19.
The city has been witnessing a rise in cases and BJP Gujarat President CR Patil who later tested positive for the disease had begun his Saurashtra tour from Rajkot. Interestingly, several BJP leaders from Rajko tested positive after the tour.
Sources in the know said Rajkot Collector Remya Mohan had been experiencing mild symptoms and hence got herself tested.

Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat Abhay Bharadwaj who tested positive for COVID-19 and is in critical condition is also being treated in Rajkot.
3 diamond units in Surat sealed after staff test +ve
Diamond units in Katargam are once again being sealed after the SMC found new COVID-19 cases. In Surat, a large number of cases are being reported from Athva, Rander and Katargam zone.
After several diamond units in the city began reporting COVID-19 cases, the SMC came out with a standard operating procedure for the units.
Later during routine testing, the SMC found several such cases in three diamond units in Katargam. Some of the units that were checked included Veer Gems where 200 workers were present at 50 machines and Ram Impex where 400 diamond polishers were working on 30 machines. Both the companies were following COVID-19 norms and all employees had tested negative.
Similar checking at Hare Krushna House which had 100 employees revealed two from the sales department tested positive. The eighth floor of the unit was sealed after the results. Similarly, 16 employees of the 800 working on 50 machines at HVK Diamonds also tested positive for the disease.
The SMC sealed the entire company after the results. A unit operating in the Diamond house in Gotlavadi was also sealed after one of the nine employees tested positive.
