BJP has won the Rajkot Municipal Corporation elections with better performance than last year. Here are some interesting facts about the victory…
- Rajkot recorded a polling of 50.75% for the 72 seats on Sunday.
- In all, 293 candidates were in the fray.
- BJP won 68 of the 72 seats.
- Congress got just 4 seats.

- In Rajkot Municipal Corporation’s Ward No 16, BJP candidate Ruchita Joshi won with a margin of 11 votes.
- Joshi of the BJP had 8,600 votes in her favour against the Congress’ Rasilaben Geriya who had 8,589 votes polled in her favour.
- The Rajkot City Congress President Ashok Dangar has accepted the verdict and also tendered his resignation taking responsibility for the party’s poor performance.
- Rajkot had seen 49.53% voting in the 2015 civic body polls.
- The BJP has been in power in Rajkot Municipal Corporation since 2005.
