Gujarat will not issue passes to those wanting to go to Rajasthan unless they first get a pass from the neighbouring state. Nodal officers for interstate movement Dhananjay Dwivedi in a tweet on Friday said that today onwards collectors in Gujarat will not issue passes for persons wanting to go to Rajasthan. “Such persons will have to first take a pass from Rajasthan and then show it to the respective Collector in Gujarat to have a pass issued. Please follow the process and cooperate,” Dwivedi tweeted.
The tweet came amidst reports that Rajasthan had closed its borders with Gujarat and other states. This had resulted in many migrants and workers stuck in a limbo. Long queues were witnessed as Rajasthan authorities refused to allow them entry. Reports also emerged that even those who had valid passes from both Gujarat and Maharashtra were denied entry.
As Rajasthan recorded over 3,000 cases of corona, the Ashok Gehlot government in the state had ordered that borders be sealed in an attempt to break the chain. Rajasthan shares a border with Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat.
