Rajasthan to impose strict lockdown from May 10 to 24


 A strict lockdown will be imposed in Rajasthan from Monday 5 am till May 24. People breaking the guidelines of the lockdown would be put under quarantine. Barring an emergency, all public and private buses would be off the roads. Transportations from one city to the other and no private buses will be allowed to run.

All government offices except for offices that are required under the essential services will be allowed to open.

Only shops selling milk, grocery, vegetables, fruits, and fodder would be allowed to operate from 6 am to 11 am. Cycle rickshaws, autorickshaws and taxis will be allowed to run from 6 am to 6 pm. All industries will be allowed to operate with prior permission.

All marriages in public places have been banned. Marriages at home could be performed amid the presence of a maximum of 11 persons.

COVID-19 situation in Rajasthan

COVID-19 cases and deaths are increasing rapidly that has become a cause of concern for the state government. The case tally in the state due to the viral infection has already crossed 7.38 lakh of which nearly 18,000 people tested positive on Saturday. There are over 2 lakh active cases of the virus in the state and 5,506 people have succumbed to it. Of the total deaths, 160 people died in the past 24 hours. In Jaipur, which is the state’s biggest city, 53 people died on Saturday.

In the past 10 days, the maximum number of new positive cases totalling 33,453 were reported from Jaipur, 18,706 from Jodhpur, 9,790 from Udaipur, 8,310 from Alwar and 6,066 from Bikaner.
