Rajasthan-cadre IPS officer Manish Agarwal was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday for allegedly demanding a bribe from a road construction company. Manish Agarwal was brought to the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) office where he was arrested. The IPS officer will be produced before the court and the ACB will seek his remand for further investigation.
Neeraj Meena, a middle man was arrested on January 13 and on his statement, Manish Agarwal was interrogated by the ACB. The sub-divisional magistrates of Dausa, Pinky Meena and Pushkar Mittal, were arrested on January 13 in the bribery case. They were arrested on a complaint by the middle man who said he paid Meena Rs 10 lakh and Mittal Rs 5 lakh for seeking favour.
On investigation based on the statement of Neeraj Meena, the ACB found that Manish Agarwal, as the superintendent of police of Dausa district, was pressurising a road construction company to pay him bribes to enable them to carry on the road construction work.
Agarwal was harassing the company officials by often confiscating their vehicles. He was getting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh per month for not confiscating vehicles like trucks and earthmovers. Agarwal, it was found during the investigation, had demanded Rs 10 lakh for withdrawing various criminal cases against the road construction company.
It was found during the interrogation that Neeraj Meena had taken Rs 38 lakh from the company for disbursements as bribes to the police and other officials. Meena said he paid the amount to Agarwal for getting various favours for the construction company.

Agarwal was posted as the superintendent of police (SP), Dausa, in 2020 and since his posting, he faced several controversies. Agarwal has a controversial track record. Agarwal original cadre was Jammu & Kashmir. But after his marriage with a Rajasthan cadre woman IPS, he was given the Rajasthan cadre and was shifted to Rajasthan. However, his marriage with the IPS officer did not last and they divorced each other. Later, Agarwal married another woman.
He was first posted in Barmer as SP in 2018, but was removed. He was then posted to Dausa as SP in 2020. In Dausa, he allegedly got into a controversy in case of a rape and he demanded Rs 25 lakh from the person involved in the rape incident. The matter was investigated by the inspector general of the range.
