Mumbai: Trouble’s getting bigger for Raj Kundra, businessman and husband of actress Shilpa Shetty. A day after his arrest, Kundra was sent to police custody till July 23. He has been accused of creating and releasing pornographic content on OTT platform in an FIR registered in February this year.
Kundra and one Ryan Tharp were produced before Mumbai’s Esplanade Court.
While Kundra had been arrested on Monday, Tharp was arrested on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, explosive WhatsApp chat allegedly of Kundra surfaced, where he is seen talking about marketing of films, paying actresses, etc. He is reportedly part of a WhatsApp group on which porn film business was discussed. The group had five members, all of whom were allegedly involved in production of porn films.
The chats reveal that the daily earning on live shows was Rs 1.85 lakh and on films was 4.53 lakh. The Hotshots app, on which this content was uploaded, had 20 lakh subscribers.
According to available information, so far six persons have been arrested in the case.
Earlier, after his arrest, Mumbai police had said in a statement, “There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in Feb 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidences regarding this.”
