The Railways will run additional 200 special passenger trains from June 1 onwards. These non-air conditioned trains will have second class coaches and will be run on a daily basis. This will be in addition to the Shramik Special trains being run for migrants and the air-conditioned special trains. The latter is operated on the Rajdhani routes connecting 15 major cities to Delhi.
“Indian Railways will run 200 non-AC trains daily as per the time table from June 1, whose online booking will start soon,” tweeted Railway Minister Piyush Goyal. The minister, however, did not clarify ast to which routes these trains will run on but those in the know said they will connect small towns and cities.
Earlier, the railways had cancelled all its regular passenger services till June 30. It is also not clear what will be the fare charge for the additional 200 Non-AC trains. The Railways said these trains will also help migrants in case they are unable to board the Shramik Special trains.
