The Railways on Thursday said that it has suspended all passenger trains except for the Shramik Special services and 30 special trains. All tickets that were booked for travel on or before June 30 have been cancelled and will be fully refunded.
Railways had earlier suspended its operations from March 25 due to the coronavirus-triggered lockdown. Earlier, all bookings for regular trains were stopped till May 17, till the third phase of lockdown remained in force.
It has resumed passenger train services this week by introducing 30 special trains connecting Delhi and other major cities in India including Dibrugarh, Thiruvananthapuram, Agartala, Madgaon, Howrah, Patna, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Jammu Tawi. It has also run 300 Shramik trains for migrants.
The special trains from Delhi have only air-conditioned coaches and a fare for the same is at par with Rajdhani Express. Since the booking for the special trains began, 45,000 tickets were brought on Monday alone. Only online ticket booking is available as ticket window counters are not operational at stations. Tatkal and premium tickets are also not available for special trains.
Only passengers with valid confirmed tickets are allowed entry into railway stations.
