Landslides in Maharashtra’s Raigad: At least 30 dead; PM announces Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia

Mumbai: Landslides in Raigad district of Maharashtra following heavy rains have left at least 30 persons dead, according to district administration.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of those who died and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the landslides in Raigad.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and extended all possible help from the Centre to deal with the floods and the landslides.

While talking about the overall flood situation in the state, Thackeray said that damaged roads and bridges were posing major hurdles in NDRF and other rescue teams reaching the flood affected areas. He also reviewed the situation in Raigad and other places.

He has ordered evacuation and relocation of people who are living in areas where there is possibility of landslide.
