Jammu: Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi will be in Jammu and Kashmir for two days starting Thursday. He will also be walking to the Mata Vaishno Devi temple.
“Shri @RahulGandhi will be in Jammu today for a two day tour & visit to Mata Vaishno Devi Temple,” read the tweet on the official Twitter handle of Congress.
As per the details given by the party, Rahul Gandhi will got to Vaishno Devi from Katra on foot at 2.30 pm. He will also attend the Attka Arti in the evening.
J&K Congress president Ghulam Ahmed Mir said that Rahul has special faith in the temple and had been wanting to visit it for the past few years.
“He wanted to come, but the political situation was such that he could not. Now that things are slightly better, he has decided to come to Jammu,” Mir had said on Wednesday. Last month, Rahul Gandhi had visited Srinagar. There are reports that he may also visit Ladakh.
Meanwhile, the BJP has called the visit to the temple “token Hinduism”.
