Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter account suspended ‘temporarily’, says Congress

New Delhi: The Twitter account of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has been suspended temporarily, the Congress tweeted via its official handle on Saturday evening.

He will remain connected with people via his other social media account, the tweet added.

“Shri @RahulGandhi’s Twitter account has been temporarily suspended & due process is being followed for its restoration.

Until then, he will stay connected with you all through his other SM platforms & continue to raise his voice for our people & fight for their cause. Jai Hind!,” said Congress in the tweet.

Rahul Gandhi had on Wednesday visited the family of a nine-year-old who was allegedly raped and killed in Delhi. He later posted the photo on Twitter. Taking strong objection to this, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) asked the Delhi police and Twitter to act against him for violation of the Juvenile Justice Acte and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. It stated that the face of the girl’s parents could be seen, thus making it possible to know the girl’s identity.

It also demanded that Twitter take down that photo.
