Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took a dig at the BJP that has criticised him for using a cushion (gaddi) to sit on a tractor during his Punjab ‘Kheti Bachao Yatra’.

Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently bought luxury planes for Rs 8,000 crore that has not just a cushion, but a whole range of luxurious items at his disposal.

Rahul Gandhi said that the Prime Minister’s new Air India One plane, “bought for more than Rs 8,000 crore of the taxpayers’ money, had not just a cushion but a whole lot of luxury beds for his comfort”.

“Why don’t you question them about this,” he asked the media in response to a question about him sitting on a ‘gaddi’ on a tractor during his Punjab ‘Kheti Bachao Yatra’.

He was addressing the media with Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh before entering Haryana for the protest against farm laws.

Rahul Gandhi criticised PM Modi for wasting thousands of crore on the VVIP plane just because his friend Donald Trump has one.

The Gandhi scion said it was strange that nobody was questioning the purchase of the planes.

Smriti Irani, Hardeep Singh Puri criticised Rahul Gandhi

Union Minister Smriti Irani on Monday ridiculed Rahul Gandhi as a “VIP kisan” after photographs showed him sitting on a cushioned seat on a tractor during his party’s protest rally in Punjab against the Centre’s new farm laws.

“He is someone who uses a sofa to sit on a tractor. A VIP kisan like him can never support a system which is meant to free small and marginal farmers from the clutches of middlemen,” Smriti Irani had said.

Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri had said, “The ‘protest’ launched by Congress is a political protest by those whose vested interests are hurt by the #FarmBills. Cushioned sofas on tractors is not a protest. It is ‘Protest Tourism’ to misguide our farmers who are educated & intelligent to see through this facade.”
