Chandigarh: Former Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar announced his resignation from the party on Facebook on Saturday.
He did a Facebook live to announce his decision, ending it with “Good luck and Goodbye, Congress”.
His resignation comes on the second day of the party’s Nav Sankalp Chintan Shibir. Hours earlier, he had taken off all references to the party from his social media accounts. Immediately after his resignation, speculations began on his next move—whether he would join AAP or BJP.
According to reports, Sunil Jakhar was upset because of action taken against him for alleged anti-party activities.
About a fortnight ago, following the disciplinary action committee, Jakhar was removed from all party posts for two years for “not toeing the party line”.
On Friday, Jakhar had tweeted that he would share his “Dil ki baat” at noon on Saturday.
