New Delhi: Dr Priyanka Maurya, the face of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s ‘Ladki Hun, Lad Sakti Hun’ campaign, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday. Along with her, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s brother-in-law Pramod Gupta, too, joined the Saffron party.
Priyanka Maurya had spoken about the alleged injustice to her.
She alleged that she had been promised a ticket from Sarojini Nagar constituency for the upcoming Assembly elections at the time of putting her photograph on the poster. However, it was given to a male candidate.
She claimed she had been asked for money in lieu of a ticket.
On Thursday, she said she objected to use of OBC faces to attract votes of the respective communities.
“I had put all my energy in my Assembly constituency, yet I was not given a chance to fight,” she claimed.
Pramod Gupta, a former Samajwadi Party MLA, accused SP of sheltering mafias and criminals. He is the second member of Mulayam Singh’s family to join BJP. The latter’s younger daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav joined BJP on Wednesday.
The Uttar Pradesh elections will be held in seven phases, starting February 10 and ending March 7.
