New Delhi: Amid the ever-increasing prices of fuel, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi lashed out at the central government, saying that petrol and diesel were now more expensive than aviation turbine fuel (ATF).
Taking at dig at the government, she said that the BJP government had promised that people wearing ‘hawai chappal’ (slippers) would travel in planes. However. such is the fuel price rise that it is more difficult for middle class people to travel by road, she said in a tweet in Hindi.
She tagged a newspaper clipping that read that petrol had become 30 per cent costlier than ATF.
The aviation fuel costs Rs 79 per litre in Delhi, while petrol is priced at over Rs 105.
While petrol had crossed the mark of Rs 100 per litre several days back, now diesel too has crossed the barrier at several places.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also pointed out that had the government not raised the taxes, the prices of petrol had diesel would have been Rs 66 and Rs 55 per litre.
