Eight people have been arrested in connection with the beating of two Nigeria students in Haridwar.

The arrested include the director of a private engineering college in Haridwar, Parag Jain, five security guards, registrar Munendra Chauhan and a non-teaching staff member.

A video of the students in pain without their shirts and crying ‘oh God, oh God’ in the back of the car, has gone viral on social media.

Hindustan Times quoted a local cop as saying that the two Nigerian BTech second year students were from Roorkee Institute of Technology (RIIT) Bhagwanpur college.

The complaint states that the two students had gone out of the college premises for dinner as they were bored of the canteen food. On their return they had a verbal altercation with the security guards who later beat them up.
