- FIR mentions LJP leader Chirag Paswan too, accuses him of delaying action against Prince
New Delhi: The Delhi police have lodged an FIR in a rape complaint against Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP Prince Paswan. The FIR came after an order on September 9 by the Delhi court. The complaint of the alleged rape was lodged in June.
Prince Paswan, an MP from Samastipur in Bihar, is the cousin of LJP leader Chirag Paswan who, too, has been named in the FIR for allegedly delaying action against the former.
The woman, an LJP worker, had lodged a complaint with Connaught Place police in Delhi, accusing Prince of raping and threatening her.
In her complaint, she had claimed that Prince had given her water laced with some sedative. She fell unconscious after consuming it. She stated that when she regained consciousness, he showed her the video of the rape and tried to pressurize her into marrying him. She alleged that he threatened to put the video online if she refused.
The complainant, through her lawyer, then moved an application before the Delhi court seeking directions to the police in the matter. The court directed Delhi police to register an FIR against Prince and Chirag.
In a statement on June 17, Prince had denied the allegations and called them defamatory.
Prince is the son of late Ram Chandra Paswan, brother of LJP founder and Chirag’s father late Ram Vilas Paswan.
