Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates three development projects in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated three projects in Gujarat. Modi congratulated Gujarat for the marvellous work he state has done and called them symbols of the state’s prosperity.

Inaugurating the Kisan Sarvoday Yojana, under which farmers will be able to get power during the day time for irrigation purpose, Modi said those who know about agriculture are aware that the farmers get electricity only at night.

“Farmers in Gujarat will now get day-time power supply. He, however, warned against water wastage. One drop, more crop should be our mantra. If we waste water because we will get it through out the day, then we will be defeating the purpose of the project,” Modi said.

Dahod, Patan, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Chhota Udepur, Kheda, Tapi, Valsad, Anand and Gir-Somnath districts will be covered under the first phase for 2020-21. The rest will be included in a phased manner by 2022-23.

The second project to be inaugurated was the Paediatric Heart Hospital attached with UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad. “Nowadays children are also affected by heart disease. This hospital will cater to such patients from across the country.”

Modi takes a dig at Opposition

He also inaugurated the ropeway project in Girnar, the fourth such ropeway in Gujarat and the ‘longest temple ropeway’ in Asia.

Modi slammed the Opposition for the hurdles in the project. He said that had the Opposition not created hurdles tourists and pilgrims could have got the benefit much earlier.

He added that one needs to think of the loss to the people when projects beneficial for the people are stalled for too long.

“The ropeway will create employment opportunities for youth,” he said. Modi also said that concentrating on ease-of-living and ease-of-travelling for tourists can help converse several tourist circuits in Gujarat into global tourist spots.
