Pre-wedding video shoots can land you in jail for copyright violation!

A pre-wedding video shoot ended terribly for a photographer who had to spend time in jail for the same. No, he did not misuse the pictures of the bride and groom his only fault was that he tried to enhance the video with better music.

What’s wrong in it you would say? Well, the photographer used some songs without the due permission of the original composer and found himself in jail for violating copyright act.

Tejas Barot works as a wedding photographer and videographer found cops knocking on his door one early morning. Barot was taken to jail and informed that he was being booked for violating the copyright law.

Barot realised that he had used the music of T-series for the wedding and photography video albums of his clients. Since he had not got permission from T-series to use it, he had ended up violating the copyright act.

As of now, Barot is in custody and the case is being investigated by CID Crime’s CFC cell. Sources said playing music even in social celebrations without the permission of the original composer or those who had the copyright to it could land anyone in trouble.
