Prashant Kishor takes ‘break from public life’, quits as Punjab CM’s chief adviser

New Delhi: Prashant Kishor, the master election strategist who has been the brain behind many a win, has announced that he is taking a temporary break from public life. He has also resigned as the principal adviser to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

Prashant Kishor, who was with Singh ahead of the 2017 elections when the party won with a good majority, was appointed by Singh as his principal adviser in March this year. He was appointed in the rank and status of Cabinet minister and would be working ‘pro bono’ for a token honorarium of Re 1 per month, the CMO had tweeted at that time.

Prashant Kishor played an important role in uniting Singh and now Punjab Congress president Navjyot Singh Sidhu who have been at loggerheads for quite some time. His decision to take a break comes ahead of Assembly elections in Punjab in 2022.

Over the past few years, Prashant Kishor’s importance in the political circuits has grown mainfold. Besides being known as the master strategist, he is called the Man with Midas Touch. Success stories have been scripted after political parties roped him in at different times.

Most recently, he played a pivotal role in the victory of Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress in West Bengal earlier this year, amid fears of anti-incumbency likely to affect the party’s poll prospects this time.

There have been reports of Prashant Kishor joining Congress.
