Home minister Pradipsinh Jadeja on Wednesday clarified that the government did everything to ensure that the Rathyatra was taken out but in the end it had to go with the Gujarat High Court order.
Jadeja’s clarification comes after Mahant of Jagannath Temple said that negotiators had kept him in the dark till the end and questioned the delay by the government in filing the appeal in the high court.
Jadjea in a release said that the government immediately approached the High Court after the Supreme Court gave its nod to the Rathyatra in Puri in Odisha subject to certain conditions. He also said that the state was prepared to carry it out subject to conditions provided it got the nod from the Gujarat High Court.
Jadeja said while Odisha got the permission it was in the green zone while Ahmedabad is in the red zone and that is why perhaps the yatra could not be risked and the high court refused to show any leniency.
