Aaquib Chhipa, Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday granted bail to accused husband – Maunang Patel in an alleged domestic violence and dowry case against the owner of Popular Builders and his son.
The advocate appearing for Patel said the FIR in the case was lodged two weeks after the incident by the wife of Maunang – Fizu Patel.

Based on her statement, section 307 of IPC was added in the case against Maunang Patel of Popular Builders and other accused. Moreover, the counsel argued that Fizu never accused Maunang of forcibly taking her to sign certain documents.

The counsel argued that most of Fizu’s complaint is against her father-in-law, owner of Popular Builders. The counsel said the role of her husband, Maunang, is limited to abetment as per the FIR.

The Public Prosecutor in the case said that Maunang acted as a tool for his father and uncle, both owners of Popular Builders, to commit the offense. The father in law of Fizu threatened her after she filed a complaint and cops had to provide her mother and the complainant police protection.

Gujarat High Court while granting bail to the accused directed Patel to furnish a personal bond of Rs 10,000 with the trial court.

As per the case details, Fizu’s in-laws and husband Maunang Patel began taunting her for not bringing enough dowry during a birthday celebration of her hubby.

Soon the taunt turned abusive and when Fizu objected, her husband slapped her several times and also punched her in the nose.

Her father-in-law and uncles who are associated with Popular Builders threw her out of her house and threatened that she would be killed if she filed a case against them. Later Fizu filed an FIR against her husband and in-laws with the Vastrapur Police Station.
