Bengaluru: Karnataka Assembly election is believed to be a semi final before Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024. Today on May 10 voting for assembly election has started from 7 am and it will continue till 6 pm. 5,31,33,054 voters are eligible to cast their vote and they will vote for 224 members of assembly. The voters include 2,67,28,053 man, 2,64,00,074 women and 4927 ‘other’ voters. 11.71 lakh young voters will cast their vote for the first time. 58,545 polling centers have been established across the state for voters. The results of election will be declared on May 13.

BJP fielded candidates on all seats
A total of 2,615 candidates of various parties including Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Janata Dal (Secular) are trying their luck in the election field. Of these, 2,430 are men, 184 women and one other gender candidate. BJP has fielded its candidates on all 224 seats, while the Congress on 223 and the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Aam Aadmi Party have each fielded their candidates on 209 seats. There are a total of 11,71,558 youth voters in the state, while 5,71,281 are physically challenged and 12,15,920 are above 80 years of age.
Earlier, the Election Commission completed all preparations for voting across the state. Tight security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful, fair polling and to avoid any untoward incident. Besides state police, several companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed and police forces from neighboring states have also been deputed to maintain law and order in the state.
Over 3 lakh polling personnel on duty
Nearly 3 lakh polling personnel have been deployed to conduct the elections. A total of 75,603 Ballot Units (BU), 70,300 Control Units (CU) and 76,202 Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) are being used during the polling across the state.
