Police in Jamnagar bust Satyanarayan Katha being held in violation of lockdown

Devotion landed close to 20 people in trouble in Gujarat’s Jamnagar district after the police swooped down on a Satyanarayan Katha being organised at a house in the village in violation of lockdown norms.

The matter pertains to Baman village in Kalavad taluka of Jamnagar district. During routine patrolling, the police sub inspector got a tip off that a Satynarayan Katha was being organised at a home in the village.

Further inquiry revealed that the religious meet was organised by one Jaysukh Lungariya. He had also invited several other villagers to attend the function at his home.

Police soon reached the house and arrested Lungariya and 20 other men and women who were attending the meet.

Gujarat which has seen over 7,000 Covid19 cases in the state has now implemented a very strict lockdown policy to help curb the further spread of the disease. Although most of the cases are being reported from Ahmedabad, the state does not allow gathering of people even in green zones.
