Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath saying that the state leads the way in development campaigns. The prime minister said this during the foundation stone laying ceremony of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University in Aligarh.
Notably, the praise for Yogi Adityanath comes ahead of the Assembly election due in Uttar Pradesh next year. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and the CM were also present at the event.
PM Modi’s praise for Yogi Adityanath
PM Modi said that the Yogi government is working towards the development of the state. “It gives me tremendous satisfaction that UP, which was once seen as a hindrance to the country’s development, is today leading the biggest development campaigns of the country,” he said.
The prime minister said, “Uttar Pradesh is increasingly emerging as a favourable destination for national and international investors. This happens when a conducive environment is nurtured… and necessary resources are provided. Today, Uttar Pradesh has become a shining example of (the) double benefit of double-engine government.”
“There was a time when only goons ruled the state. But now all extortionists, mafia leaders are behind the bars. People of UP can’t forget the scams that the state has seen… how corrupt people chosen for key roles,” he added.

Big day for Aligarh
The prime minister hailed the setting-up of the new university as a “big day for Aligarh and west Uttar Pradesh. The university being set up in the memory and honour of noted Jat figure Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh, a freedom fighter, educationist and social reformer, is a move by the ruling dispensation to woo the disgruntled community ahead of the state polls.
The university will be set up over 92 acres in Lodha and Musepur Kareem Jarouli villages of Aligarh’s Kol tehsil and will provide affiliation to 395 colleges of the Aligarh division.
“Many of the national icons, whose contributions towards the nation have been immense, were ignored and forgotten over the decades since independence by previous governments. But today, be it Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh ji or Suhel Dev ji, or many others, are being given the importance they truly deserve,” PM Modi said at the ceremony.
