Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged the nation not to fall prey for rumors about the deadly Coronavirus outbreak and asked people to consult to a doctor in case of any doubts. PM Modi said this while interacting with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana via video conferencing. “I request people to not believe in hearsay and rumors on what to do and what not to do on coronavirus, one should consult doctor if one feels unwell,” PM Modi said.
He also asked people to avoid handshakes and start greeting others with ‘namaste’ once again. Modi was interacting with owners of Jan Aushadhi Kendras and beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna through video conference and became emotional after hearing the story of an elderly woman from Dehradun. PM Modi said that this is not a day to celebrate a scheme. This is a context to connect with the millions of people who have benefited from this scheme.
PM Modi said that the Prime Minister’s Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Project is resolved to provide cheaper treatment. Expressing happiness over the opening of more than 6000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras, PM Modi said that as the network grows, the number of beneficiaries is also increasing.
‘four sub-heads of Government for every Indian’s health’
Prime Minister Modi said that our government is working on four sub-heads for every Indian’s health. how to protect every citizen from illness, If they fall sick, how can we provide them with cheap and quality healthcare?, We’re working on providing good facilities like hospitals for cheap and quality healthcare.
‘Accelerating the growth of Jammu and Kashmir’
PM Modi said that the growth of Jammu and Kashmir has accelerated. “In the last 1.5 years, Jammu and Kashmir has seen unprecedented development work at a brisk rate. Over 3.5 lakh people have been added to the Ayushman Bharat scheme and 3 lakh old, women and specially-abled people have been connected to the pension scheme in the valley,”
Write ‘generic medicines only’
The Prime Minister said that generics made by India are in demand all over the world. The government has made it mandatory for every hospital to prescribe generic medicines. He said that it is necessary to ensure that doctors prescribe only generic medicines except in certain circumstances. Referring to the spreading of rumors about generic medicines, the PM said that some people also think how the medicine can be so cheap. He said that along with Jan Aushadhi Kendras, many other tools like distribution, quality testing lab are also expanding. Thousands of youth are getting employment through this.
