“Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam” program will begin in Gujarat from April 17 to celebrate the cultural relations between Tamil Nadu and Saurashtra. The program will last for 10 days. PM Narendra Modi is schedule to visit Gujarat on April,26 to attend the program. As PM Modi is not going to attend the inauguration program scheduled on 17th April due to his busy schedule. Now PM will visit Gujarat in the end of April.

According to the information available, during Gujarat visit, PM Modi will attend the program and also visit Somnath temple to offer prayers to Lord Mahadev. While the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be present at the inauguration function of the Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam program on 17 April.
Saurashtra Tamil Sangam was announced and its logo, theme song and registration portal were unveiled on 19 March in Chennai. Within 24 hours of the launch of the portal, more than 10,000 people completed their registration process giving a huge positive response to the Sangam. More than 10 thousand people have registered to participate in this program. Families participating in the program will also get a chance to visit the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, with a height of 182 meters, situated at Kevadia, Narmada district of Gujarat.
It may be mentioned here that after the Mughal invasion, some families left Saurashtra and settled in Tamil Nadu. However, they are still connected with the culture of Gujarat and they are giving their contribution for the development of Tamil Nadu.
