PM Modi Delighted After Lok Sabha Passed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill


New Delhi: The Lok Sabha in a late night sitting on Monday passed the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill. Home Minister Amit Shah answered his questions to opposition leaders during a discussion on several issues. Shah praised Narendra Modi in his speech. The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed after division with 311 members voting in favor and 80 against. The bill will now go to the Rajya Sabha the upper house.

Prime Minister Modi wrote on another tweet, “I would especially like to applaud Home Minister @AmitShah Ji for lucidly explaining all the aspects of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. He also gave elaborate answers to various points raised by MPs during the discussion during the Lok Sabha.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter after the Bill was passed, “Delighted that the Lok Sabha has passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 after a rich and extensive debate. I thank the various MPs and parties that supported the Bill. This Bill is in line with India’s centuries old ethos of assimilation and belief in humanitarian values.”

The PM also said that Amit Shah had answered every question raised by MPs in the House in the area. In addition, PM Modi said that the Citizenship Investigation Bill 2019 has been passed in the Lok Sabha. There was significant debate over this bill. I thank all the MPs present for their support. This bill will reflect the belief in the Indian tradition and human values ​​that have been going on for years.

The bill was supported by Shiv Sena, which is no longer with BJP, though its other allies in Maharashtra government Congress and NCP strongly opposed the bill. The over seven hour debate saw participation from 48 members. The bill was introduced on Monday morning and was passed past midnight.
