New Delhi: Unhappy with the attendance of BJP MPs in the Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has in no unclear words warned them to shape up or be ready to face the consequences.
At the BJP Parliamentary meet on Tuesday, the PM asked the MPs to attend the Parliament and meetings regularly, adding, “If you don’t change yourself, there will be changes…”
He expressed displeasure at having to repeat the instruction like for children.
The BJP Parliamentary meet was held at Dr Ambedkar International Centre. However, with repair works on in the auditorium, the meeting took place outside the Parliament House complex. BJP president JP Nadda as well as Union ministers Amit Shah, Piyush Goyal, Jitendra Singh, Pralhad Joshi, S Jaishankar and others attended the meeting.
After the meeting, Union Parliamentary Affairs minister Pralhad Joshi briefed reporters.
On the matter of suspension of 12 MPs from Rajya Sabha, Joshi said that they had already explained why the MPs had to be suspended.
“The country witnessed whatever took place. It is on record. If they apologize even today, we are ready to withdraw the suspension,” he said.
The 12 MPs from Opposition parties were suspended on the first day of the Winter Session of the Parliament for ‘indiscipline’.
Joshi added that the PM had instructed the MPs to organize events for Padma awardees who were common citizens honoured for their good work.
District presidents and mandal presidents will be called for a meeting in Kashi in Uttar Pradesh on December 14, he said.
