Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday took a dig at the RJD-Congress alliance in the run-up for the Bihar election. PM Modi said that the people of Bihar have decided that those having a history of making Bihar ‘bimaru’ will not be allowed to return to power.
PM Modi said this while addressing the people in his first election rally in Bihar’s Sasaram. He also paid tributes to two tall leaders from Bihar who recently died—Lok Janshakti Party’s Ram Vilas Paswan and Rashtriya Janta Dal’s Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.
Taking several digs at the Opposition alliance, the prime minister said that even before the polls, the people of Bihar have given their message and all surveys show that the NDA government will retain power in the state.
People in the state have decided that those who have a history of making Bihar ‘Bimaru’ will not be allowed to return, Modi said in a swipe at the RJD-led opposition.
‘BIMARU’ is an acronym for Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. It was used to refer to the ‘poor economic conditions’ of these states.

PM Modi invokes India-China tussle
Referring to the Galwan Valley clash with Chinese troops, the prime minister said the sons of Bihar laid down their lives for the tricolour but did not let ‘Mother’ India’s head bow.
The soldiers of Bihar were also martyred in the Pulwama attack, he said.
PM Modi slams Opposition on Article 370, farm laws
In his address, PM Modi also slammed the opposition for its demand of restoring Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, accusing them of siding with those conspiring to weaken India. He asserted that India will not back off from the decisions it has taken.
Pm Modi also hit out at the Opposition for protesting farm laws and accused them of siding with middlemen. He had earlier said that Congress and several other opposition parties are misleading the farmers on farm laws. He had termed the farm laws as “historic” that will help in doubling the income of farmers.
BJP facing criticism over “free vaccine” promise
Notably, the BJP is already facing criticism in the country over its poll announcement that it will offer free COVID-19 vaccines to the people of Bihar, once mass production of vaccines begins.
BJP’s ally in the Centre, Lok Janshakti Party, is also fighting a solo battle in Bihar and is challenging the JD (U) candidates in the Bihar election.
