Hearing in Patiala House Court for issuing death warrants to Nirbhaya convicts has been postponed to 7 January. But the SC has rejected Akshay’s reconsideration petition. The new bench, headed by Justice Bhanumathi, dismissed the plea, saying that the trial and investigation were correct and there was no flaw in it. If there is a question of death penalty, then the court has given full opportunity for rescue. The judge said that we have not found any ground in the petition.
Nirbhaya’s parents had pleaded with the court to issue a death warrant, with a demand for immediate execution of the four convicts, while hearing the case that the jail administration should issue a notice to the four convicts. So that the guilty can use all their remaining legal rights. With this, the hanging of Nirbhaya’s convicts has been postponed for some more time.
Not only this, the court told Nirbhaya’s mother, “We have full sympathy for you. We know that someone has died but there is also talk of someone else’s right here. We have come here to listen to you but we are also bound by the law.”
