- Demands for discussions on important issues continue in Lok Sabha
New Delhi: The one thing that the 2021 monsoon session of the Parliament will be remembered for is the spate of daily disruptions, and not a single day of adjournment-free functioning of either House
There are just three days left for the monsoon session to conclude, but the Opposition has been relentless in its demand for discussion in the Parliament on issues like Pegasus snooping row, Farm Laws and other matters.
On Tuesday, after multiple adjournments, the Rajya Sabha proceedings were suspended for the day.
In the Lok Sabha, Shiromani Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal demanded discussion on the Farm Laws. AIMIM leader and MP Asaddudin Owaisi demanded for removal of the 50 per cent sealing on reservations. He added that more than 51 per cent seats in central universities were lying vacant.
Meanwhile, the Centre said in the Lower House of the Parliament that no decision had yet been taken on the nationwide National Register of Citizens, which is meant to document all legal citizens of the country. The government also said that there was no proposal to release data on caste in the Census 2021. However, data on Scheduled Castes and Tribes population would be collected.
