Tokyo Paralympics: Manish Narwal wins gold, Singhraj Adhana gets silver in 50m shooting

  • This is the third gold for India in the ongoing Paralympics

Tokyo: The Indian contingent’s performance at the Tokyo Paralympics is making everyone sit up and take notice. On Saturday, shooter Manish Narwal bagged the country’s third gold while Singhraj Adhana bagged silver in the P4 Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event.

Narwal, 19, shot 218.2, which is a Paralympic record. He was followed by Adhana who shot 216.7 to claim silver. This is Adana’s second medal after the bronze in P1 men’s 10m pistol SH1 event on Tuesday.

Russsia’s Sergey Malshev won the bronze medal with 196.8.

After their victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated both of them. They, in turn, thanked him for supporting them and encouraging para-athletes.

Glory from the Tokyo #Paralympics continues. Great accomplishment by the young and stupendously talented Manish Narwal. His winning the Gold Medal is a special moment for Indian sports. Congratulations to him. Best wishes for the coming times,” tweeted PM Modi.

In a separate tweet, he wrote, “The outstanding Singhraj Adhana does it again! He wins yet another medal, this time in the Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event. India rejoices due to his feat. Congrats to him. Wishing him the very best for the future endeavours.”
