New Delhi: The ongoing protests in Shaheen Bagh are becoming a big issue in Delhi Assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is raising questions on the Aam Aadmi Party by calling it a political issue. At the same time, MP from Hyderabad and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is also surrounding the BJP on this issue. Owaisi has expressed fears that after February 8, Shaheen Bagh will be made Jallianwala Bagh.
According to the news agency ANI, Asaduddin Owaisi said, “Might be they will shoot them, they might turn Shaheen Bagh into Jallianwala Bagh. This might happen. BJP minister gave a statement to ‘shoot a bullet’. The government must give an answer as to who is radicalising.”
On the issue of CAA, Owaisi said that government should clearly say that NRC will not be applicable in the country till 2024. Why 3900 crores has been released regarding NPR? It is known that on 10 April 1919, the British massacred thousands of Sikhs at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. Protests against the CAA have been taking place in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh since December 15. Most of the Muslim women are those who take part in this demonstration. Many other leaders, including Union Minister Anurag Thakur, BJP MP Pravesh Verma have given a statement that the protesters of Shaheen Bagh will rise as soon as the BJP government is formed in Delhi. Verma had said in a meeting that Shaheen Bagh would be evacuated only one hour after the BJP government was formed on February 11.
