Twelve more Shramik trains will leave from Gujarat ferrying stranded migrants to their respective states on Tuesday. This includes 8 trains from Surat, two from Viramgam and two from Ahmedabad. The 12 trains are expected to carry 9,600 migrants to various states across the country . Of the total 8 trains leaving Surat, three will head for Odisha and Uttar Pradesh each while one each will go to Bihar and Jharkhand.

Secretary, CMO Ashwani Kumar during the daily online briefing said that the state may also give the nod for three more trains taking the total number of trains that will leave the state on Tuesday to 15. So far 23 trains, excluding the 12 trains scheduled for Tuesday, have left Gujarat. In all 3.25 lakh migrants have travelled out of Gujarat of which 42,000 went by train while 5,500 were in GSRTC buses. 1.67 lakh made use of private buses and 1.14 lakh travelled by private vehicles from Surat to their respective native places. The government has urged the migrants to keep calm as it makes arrangements for labourers to travel. It said in the coming days it may increase the number of Shramik trains.

The state had on Tuesday announced that it will allow migrants from Surat to travel to other districts in the state as long as protocols and social distancing was followed.
