Rasikbhai Parmar was a resident of Mahemdavad in Kheda district. He was working as an agricultural labour. On May 4, while returning home he met with an accident which resulted in serious head injury. He was immediately rushed to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital where doctors on duty shifted him in ICU for treatment. Doctors put their best efforts to save him, but in vain. Rasikbhai Parmar was declared braindead on May, 8.
Wife of Braindead Rasikbhai, Kokilaben Parmar said, when she came to know that her husband is brain dead she was extremely shocked. Gradually, she knew about organ donation and thought that after organ donation Rasikbhai will remain present in body of other person and someone will be able to have a new life and will be relieved from the pain of deformity or distress in the limbs. Considering all these points Kokilaben decided to donate organs of her brain dead husband.
Subsequently, a team of State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization(SOTTO) at civil hospital gave an extensive understanding about organ donation to Kokilaben and family members.
On receiving the consent for organ donation, the brain dead Rasikbhai was taken to the retrieval center by the hospital doctors. After a long surgical procedure two kidneys and a liver were donated. All donated organs were transplanted into the patients admitted to the Kidney hospital of Ahmedabad Civil Medicity.
