New Delhi: The 12 MPs’ suspension from Rajya Sabha has become a bone of contention between the Opposition and the government since the start of the Winter Session of the Parliament. Leaders of Opposition parties in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha met on Tuesday to discuss the strategy to demand revocation of the order.
The leaders met in the office of LoP in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge.
A total of 12 MPs were suspended on the first day of the ongoing Winter Session of the Parliament for “indiscipline”.
Six of them are from Congress, two each from TMC and Shiv Sena and one each from CPI and CPI(M).
“The Rajya Sabha chairman has full powers to suspend any rule, issue direction, or revoke it but government is not letting him do it. I request the chairman to use his powers to bring back these 12 MPs to the House,” said Kharge.
According to ANI, the Opposition MPs will march from the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Parliament, to Vijay Chowk in protest of the MPs’ suspension.
The Winter Session began on November 29 and will conclude on December 23.
