Rajkot: On the national highway passing through Bhojpura village in Rajkot district of Gujarat. A strange sight was seen when the people travelling on the highway could not believe to their eyes that were the onions are so expensive like red pearls.On the other hand on Thursday it had rained onions and people without any care of their lives and age went down on their knees and started collecting the bounty.
Onion prices are skyrocketing now a days in country. A farmer’s onion-laden trailer was passing through a national highway passing through Bhojpura village in Rajkot district of Gujarat, the onion filled with jute bags suddenly fell from the trailer and the driver did not know about it. As soon as the people of the village came to know, a crowd of people started collecting as many onions as they could by using whatever was there in their hands whatever cloth or paper they could scrounge.
From the month of September this year, onion prices started rising in the country and in the last week of November it reached Rs 100 per kg. It is being told that people traveling between Rajkot city to Gondal town were happy to see onions scattered on the road. Those who had parked their own vehicles on the road side refused to lift their heads for even a second to check if they were in danger. They had collected as many of the onions as they could possibly manage. Several amused onlookers had also shot videos of the incident which went viral soon on the social media.
The people associated with Gondal Marketing Yard confirmed that 200 kg fell on the way during this time.The farmer was going with a large stock of onions to Gondal to sell them.The onions were packed in a jute bags. Each weighing 1 quintal (100 kg).Everyone was blessing that farmer that has lightened thw burden in their wallets at least for the next few days.
