One of the twins born to a Covid19 positive mother in Vadnagar has tested positive for the disease. The one-day old baby has thus become the youngest in the state to have tested positive for coronavirus.
Earlier Dr HD Palekar, Superintendent of Vadnagar Medical College, where the twins were delivered, had told local media that the report was doubtful and that the babies will be tested again after two days to confirm whether they are indeed Covid19 positive.
Hasumatiben, a resident of Molipur village in Mehsana, had given birth to twin babies on Saturday at the medical hospital. The babies were then tested for Covid19 and the result of one of them was reported to be positive on Monday. While the baby girl had tested negative, her brother had tested positive. Mehsana has reported over 70 cases of Covid19 so far.
Doctors at the hospital believe that the report is doubtful because if they had to be positive then both the babies should have tested positive. The hospital authorities said the babies had not even been breastfed so far and they have been together since they were born so they will re confirm the reports once again.
