The Union Home Ministry has removed some of the restrictions on entry of Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) card holders in the country. The restrictions were put in place after the lockdown came into force. The lifting of restrictions is however subject to conditions. An order by the ministry on Friday said that OCI card holders with pressing family emergencies will be allowed entry into the country. Couples where one partner is an Indian National and another an OCI will also be allowed entry. “Minor children born to Indian nationals abroad and holding OCI cards are also allowed entry,” the order said. India had on March 18, suspended the visa-free entry facility granted to Overseas Citizen of India cardholders after the Covid19 outbreak. This had led to several Indian citizens, whose family members had OCI cards benign unable to travel back to the country.
