The BJP has launched an attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and one of her party MPs, Nusrat Jahan, after the latter publicly said that the saffron party is more dangerous than the coronavirus.

What did Nusrat Jahan say?

TMC’s Basirhat MP Nusrat Jahan during a meeting in her constituency had said, “Keep your ears and eyes open because there are some people around you who are more dangerous than corona. Do you know what is more dangerous than corona?”

“It is the BJP. Because they don’t understand our culture. Because they don’t understand humanity. They don’t understand the value of our hard work. They only know business. They have a lot of money. They are spreading it everywhere. And then they turn people against each other on the basis of religion and trigger riots.”

BJP attacks Mamata, Nusrat

BJP’s co-convenor for West Bengal elections Amit Malviya alleged Mamata Banerjee of appeasement politics and staying silent over the remarks of Nusrat Jahan.

Amit Malviya tweeted: “In WB, the worst kind of vaccine politics is unfolding. First, Siddiqulla Chowdhury, a sitting minister in Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet, holds up trucks carrying vaccines. Now a TMC MP, campaigning in Muslim majority Deganga, likens BJP to Corona. But Pishi (aunt) is silent. Why? Appeasement?”

Election in April-May

Assembly election in West Bengal is due in April-May and the BJP and the ruling TMC are engaged in a bitter battle. While TMC wants to retain power in the state, BJP is hell-bent on overthrowing the TMC government.

In fact, senior BJP leaders including JP Nadda, Amit Shah and Kailash Vijayvargiya are frequently visiting the state and attending rallies and public meetings to create the base for BJP. Also, several TMC leaders have left the party to join the BJP. Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM also poses a threat for TMC which is afraid of a division in Muslim votes.
